Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.
Child protection is part of the safeguarding process. It focuses on protecting individual children identified as suffering or likely to suffer significant harm. This includes child protection procedures which detail how to respond to concerns about a child.
As a school we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Safeguarding procedures are vigorous and children’s well-being is paramount. The safety and well-being of all pupils is ensured through clear policies, strategies and procedures being in place.
We ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates are subject to Disclosure Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.
Annual safeguarding training, including Prevent, takes place for all staff to ensure they know how to identify when a child may be at risk and know how and to whom they should report their concerns.
In school we have three staff who take a lead in Safeguarding.
